Spreading awareness about
FRAUDULENTLY REPRESENTING PETS
as
SERVICE DOGS
We are a collaborative effort dedicated to spreading awareness about the FRAUDULENT representation of PETS as SERVICE DOGS.
Educating the public on the serious legal, ethical, and safety concerns surrounding this issue is our focus. We emphasize the difference between legitimate service animals, which are trained to perform specific tasks for individuals with disabilities.
Our mission includes advocating for stricter regulations, promoting responsible pet ownership, and protecting the rights of individuals who rely on trained service animals by addressing the risks posed by fraudulent claims.
State legislatures have caught up to these fraudulent actions with new laws criminalizing the misrepresentation of an EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL. In over 33 states, a violation of these laws is a MISDEMEANOR Offense or
Civil Infraction and some states require community service with an organization that serves the disabled as part of sentencing upon conviction.

The rise in fraudulent Service Animal claims undermines the
credibility and accessibility of legitimate Service Dogs.
For instance, untrained pets misrepresented as Service Animals
have caused disruptions in public places by
behaving aggressively or causing distractions.
This leads to unfair stigma against well-trained Service Dogs.
Such incidents can result in businesses or public spaces tightening restrictions, making it harder for people who genuinely need Service Animals to navigate daily life.
Additionally, the growing number of Emotional Support Animals (ESAs),
which don't require the same training as Service Dogs, has contributed to
confusion and exploitation of Service Animal Laws.
As more people attempt to pass off pets as Service animals,
the problem continues to escalate, highlighting the need for
stronger awareness and regulation.
